HBO’s Last of Us 2027 Shocker Druckmann Out, Mazin In Abby’s Revenge Takes Center Stage Last of Us Part II Reborn 2027: The Year of Abby

HBO Confirms The Last of Us Season 3 Will Arrive in 2027

Fans of The Last of Us TV series will have to wait a bit longer for the next chapter of the story. HBO CEO Casey Bloys recently confirmed that season three is definitely planned for 2027. While no exact release date was given, a 2027 premiere would align with the roughly two-year gap between seasons one and two.

The upcoming season will focus heavily on Kaitlyn Dever’s character, Abby, as hinted in season two. However, it remains unclear whether the remaining story from The Last of Us Part II will be adapted into just one more season or multiple. Bloys stated that this decision will be left to showrunner Craig Mazin.

Notably, Neil Druckmann, co-creator of the original video game series and a key figure in the show’s early seasons, has stepped away from the TV adaptation to focus on his role at Naughty Dog. Bloys expressed confidence in Mazin’s ability to continue the series without Druckmann’s direct involvement, citing the strong foundation already in place.

For fans eager to revisit the story before season three arrives, Naughty Dog recently added a new Chronological Mode to the remastered version of The Last of Us Part II. This mode reorganizes the game’s events in linear order, removing flashbacks to present Ellie and Abby’s Seattle storylines as they unfold.

With season three still a few years away, viewers and gamers alike have plenty of time to dive back into the world of The Last of Us before the next installment hits screens.
