FBC Firebreak Revamp Incoming

Remedy Aims to Fix FBC Firebreak After Rocky Launch with Major Updates

Remedy has announced plans to overhaul FBC Firebreak following a rough launch earlier this year. The multiplayer FPS, set in the same universe as Control, faced criticism for its confusing onboarding process, with many players dropping the game within the first hour. The studio is now working to improve the initial experience to retain players and restore goodwill.

One of the key changes involves making the opening hour more engaging. Remedy has already added an introductory video to help players understand the game’s world and its connection to Control. More narrative-driven onboarding elements are expected later this year. Additionally, the developer is building a dedicated tutorial level to better teach core mechanics, acknowledging that previous explanations were insufficient.

Taking inspiration from Nintendo, Remedy will introduce contextual pop-up tips during the first few hours to guide players. These changes aim to address player frustration and prevent early drop-offs.

Beyond onboarding, the studio is expanding gameplay with three new heavy weapons and a weapon modding system, details of which will be revealed before September. Mission structures are also being revamped, with improvements to accessibility and design. Remedy is refining gameplay by removing less enjoyable elements and enhancing the best experiences. New game modes and missions are also in the pipeline.

The first major update, targeting a winter release, will include many of these improvements. FBC Firebreak is currently available on Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, making it accessible for players to check out future updates. Remedy’s commitment to addressing feedback highlights its effort to turn the game around and deliver a more polished experience.
