Elden Ring Nightreign Introduces Two-Player Co-Op Mode in Upcoming Patch
FromSoftware’s Elden Ring Nightreign is set to receive a major update on July 30, introducing a highly requested two-player co-op mode. Previously, the game only supported solo play or three-player expeditions, leaving duos without an option. The new Duo Expeditions mode will be part of patch 1.02, addressing player demand for more flexible multiplayer options.
The developer released a trailer showcasing the two-player co-op in action, highlighting seamless teamwork in the game’s notoriously challenging world. This addition is expected to make the experience more accessible, as not all players have two friends readily available for group sessions.
Alongside the co-op update, patch 1.02 will bring quality-of-life UI improvements and new Relic filtering options. While details on the UI changes remain unclear, players won’t have to wait long to see them in action.
This follows a previous update two months ago that made solo play more forgiving by introducing an automatic revival mechanic and increasing rune rewards. The adjustments were welcomed by fans, as Nightreign’s difficulty had been a point of contention even among seasoned FromSoftware players.
Elden Ring Nightreign continues to grow in popularity, recently surpassing five million players. The broader Elden Ring universe is expanding beyond gaming, with a film adaptation in development by acclaimed director Alex Garland, known for works like Annihilation and Ex Machina.
With the new co-op mode and ongoing updates, Nightreign solidifies its place as a standout title in FromSoftware’s lineup, offering both challenge and accessibility to a widening audience.
