Cozy Campfire Adventures Await

Nintendo Direct Showcases Relaxing Campfire Sim Chillin by the Fire

The latest Nintendo Direct event highlighted several exciting games, but one title stood out for its calming and unique concept: Chillin by the Fire. Developed by Oink Games, this campfire simulation game lets players build, maintain, and grow a fire in a serene outdoor setting.

In Chillin by the Fire, players engage in realistic fire-building mechanics. You split and stack firewood, dry out damp logs before adding them to the flames, and even fan the fire by blowing on it. The game challenges players to balance their fire—too little wood and it dies out, too much and it might get out of control. Environmental factors like cold mountain air or snowy conditions add an extra layer of strategy.

The main goal is to build a level 10 fire, but the game offers multiple ways to play. Survival mode tests your resourcefulness with a limited supply of firewood, requiring you to carefully pass the flame between logs to keep it alive. For those who prefer social gameplay, the Playground mode lets you compete or collaborate with friends—either by building the biggest fire or playfully sabotaging each other’s efforts.

Chillin by the Fire supports GameShare, meaning only one copy is needed for up to four players to join online (each requiring a Switch 2) or locally on separate Switch systems. The game also integrates GameChat, allowing players to see each other’s faces hovering near the fire as they roast marshmallows, set off fireworks, or share spooky campfire stories.

For those who love the idea of camping but not the hassle of bugs and unpredictable weather, Chillin by the Fire offers a cozy alternative. The game is available now on Nintendo Switch 2 for 15 dollars, providing a peaceful and engaging experience for solo players and friends alike.
