Amazon Expands Same-Day Grocery Delivery Nationwide

Amazon Expands Same-Day Grocery Delivery to Include Perishable Items

Amazon is broadening its same-day grocery delivery service by adding perishable food items in more than 1,000 U.S. cities. Customers can now order fresh groceries such as produce, dairy, meat, seafood, and frozen foods alongside non-grocery items in a single cart. This expansion follows a successful trial in the Phoenix area last year.

Prime members enjoy free same-day delivery on orders over $25 where available, while non-Prime customers can opt for the service by paying a $12.99 shipping fee. The move is part of Amazon’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its position in the grocery market.

Since acquiring Whole Foods Market in 2017, Amazon has aggressively pursued grocery market share through innovations like self-checkout technology and its own Amazon-branded physical grocery stores. CEO Andy Jassy has emphasized the company’s commitment to competing with major players like Walmart and Instacart.

Amazon plans to extend same-day grocery delivery to over 2,300 cities by the end of 2025, with further expansions expected in the coming years. This push highlights the company’s ambition to dominate the rapidly evolving grocery delivery sector.
