Black Myth’s Next Divine Adventure Zhong Kui Awaits After Wukong Game Science Summons New Myth

Game Science Studio Teases Next Mythological Action RPG Black Myth Zhong Kui

Fresh off the monumental launch success of Black Myth Wukong, Game Science Studio has immediately teased its next project. The developer closed out the Gamescom Opening Night Live showcase with a brief but exquisitely detailed cinematic trailer for Black Myth Zhong Kui.

The teaser offered no release date, and for good reason. According to the studio, the game is still in the very early stages of development. An official FAQ candidly states that not even the project lead has any idea when it will be finished. The team did confirm, however, that the plan is to launch the title on PC and all mainstream console platforms when it is eventually ready.

As the name suggests, this new project will once again dive deep into Chinese mythology, moving from the tale of the Monkey King to the legend of Zhong Kui. In folklore, Zhong Kui is a figure known as a conqueror of ghosts and malevolent spirits, suggesting the next Black Myth game could lean into darker, more supernatural themes compared to its predecessor.

Beyond the setting and the titular character, details are scarce. The studio has confirmed that Black Myth Zhong Kui will follow the same core design principles as Wukong. It will be a single-player action RPG and will utilize the same business model, indicating another premium, one-time purchase game without live-service elements.

The announcement signals that Game Science Studio is looking to build a franchise around its Black Myth branding, with each title exploring a different story from China’s rich mythological history. The immediate reveal of a new project also demonstrates the significant confidence the studio has gained from the record-breaking performance of its first game.
