Amazon Kindle Colorsoft Hits Record Low Price Ahead of Holiday Weekend
If you are thinking about upgrading your e-reader or buying your first one, especially with plans to read over the long weekend, now might be the time. This is also a great option for anyone looking to enjoy digital comics without the distractions of a standard iOS or Android tablet. Amazon has discounted its Kindle Colorsoft, bringing it down to a new record low price of 220 dollars, a thirty dollar savings.
This particular model comes with 16GB of storage, which is half the capacity of the more expensive Signature Edition. This base model also does not include the auto-adjusting front light or the wireless charging capability found in the Signature Edition, which retails for 280 dollars.
In our review of the nearly identical Signature Edition, we found it to be a good Kindle that finally filled a noticeable gap in Amazon’s e-reader lineup. The device offers quick load times, fast page turns, and a useful pinch-to-zoom feature. We also appreciated that Amazon does not charge an extra fee to remove the lock screen ads.
The Kindle Colorsoft is built around a seven-inch color E Ink display. It delivers a pixel density of 300 ppi for black and white content and 150 ppi for color material. Amazon states the battery can last for up to eight weeks on a single charge. It also carries an IPX8 waterproof rating, meaning it can supposedly survive immersion in up to two meters of fresh water for one hour. The device also includes support for audiobooks.
The main drawback we noted in our assessment was the device’s high price point. This current discount helps to alleviate that concern. We also observed a slight reduction in sharpness and contrast when reading standard black and white text compared to a monochrome Kindle.
For anyone interested in a color e-reader, the Kindle Colorsoft represents a compelling option, and this new low price makes it an even more attractive purchase for your holiday reading.
