Microsoft Copilot Expands to Samsung TVs as an Animated AI Companion
Microsoft is bringing its Copilot AI assistant out of the office and into the living room. The company has announced a new integration that will put Copilot directly onto select Samsung TVs and smart monitors, transforming it from a productivity tool into an entertainment-focused conversational partner.
On supported devices, users will be able to access Copilot to ask questions and get recommendations through voice chat. The AI is represented on screen not as a simple text box, but as an animated, talking blob character, complete with mouth movements that sync to its spoken responses.
According to Microsoft, the TV version of Copilot is designed to act as a media-savvy helper. It can provide recaps of television shows, offer personalized movie suggestions, and answer general knowledge questions. Its responses go beyond just voice, as it can also display visual aids on screen. For example, when recommending a film, it might generate a card showing a summary alongside its Rotten Tomatoes score for quick reference.
A Microsoft account is not required to use the basic functions of Copilot on a TV. However, signing in enables a more personalized experience, allowing the AI to reference past conversations and tailor its future recommendations more effectively.
This blob-like appearance is part of a larger redesign Microsoft introduced last year to make its chatbot feel more like a customizable companion rather than just a utility. Placing it in a casual setting like a living room is a strategic move to solidify that friendly, approachable identity. While broader customization options for the character are not yet available, this launch signals Microsoft’s intent.
This is not an exclusive partnership for Samsung. Microsoft also recently confirmed that its AI assistant will be integrated into LG’s upcoming 2025 lineup of televisions. On new Samsung TVs, Copilot will join a suite of existing, native AI features developed by the manufacturer, such as tools for real-time subtitle translation and on-screen identification of people and products.
The Copilot integration is available now in select markets. It will be found on 2025 models of Samsung’s premium displays, including models from the Micro RGB, Neo QLED, and OLED series, as well as The Frame and The Frame Pro TVs. It is also coming to the M7, M8, and M9 Smart Monitors.
Accessing the AI is straightforward. Users can launch the Copilot app by finding its icon in the TV’s Apps Tab or by simply using a voice command. Once the app is open, you can start a conversation by pressing the microphone button on the standard Samsung remote control.
