Honda’s Electric Motorcycle Charges Ahead. ⚡🏍️

Honda is gearing up to make a major announcement in the electric vehicle space, but this time its focus is on two wheels. The company has released a new teaser video indicating it will unveil its first full-size electric motorcycle featuring fast charging capabilities on September 16.

The video, shared on Honda’s UK Instagram page, shows the new e-motorcycle undergoing test rides on European streets. Although the bike is covered in black and white camouflage, its design appears to share a strong resemblance with the EV Fun Concept model that Honda first presented at the EICMA 2024 motorcycle show in Milan.

That concept was notable for its boxy, modern design and its promised performance. Honda stated that the EV Fun Concept was engineered to deliver performance on par with a mid-sized internal combustion engine motorcycle. A key feature highlighted was its compatibility with the CCS2 quick charging standard, which is widely used for electric vehicles across Europe. This fast charging capability is seen as a crucial solution to one of the primary challenges for electric motorcycles: limited range due to smaller battery capacity compared to electric cars. Honda also claimed the concept bike would offer a cruising range of over 100 kilometers on a single charge.

This move is part of a broader electrification strategy from the Japanese manufacturer. Back in 2022, Honda announced its intention to significantly expand its electric motorcycle lineup, with plans to release ten or more new e-motorcycle models by 2025. This new model appears to be a significant step in fulfilling that commitment.

Based on the promotional material, the initial availability of this new electric motorcycle seems targeted. The fact that the teaser was posted on Honda’s UK-specific social media channel and explicitly mentions testing in Europe strongly suggests the model will be launched exclusively in the European and UK markets, at least initially. There is no indication from the teaser of a simultaneous North American or global release.

The official reveal is set for September 16, when Honda is expected to share full specifications, pricing, and detailed availability information. The announcement will be closely watched as a major traditional motorcycle manufacturer makes a serious entry into the performance electric motorcycle segment.
