OnePlus Reveals OxygenOS 16 with Deeper AI Integration and Customization OnePlus has officially unveiled OxygenOS 16, its custom skin based on Android 16, which will first ship on the upcoming OnePlus 15. The update focuses heavily on new AI features, smoother performance, and enhanced customization, with some ideas looking familiar to users of other Android skins. A key highlight is the deeper integration between OnePlus’s Mind Space app and Google Gemini. Mind Space, which debuted earlier this year with the Plus Key that replaced the classic Alert Slider, functions as a digital organizer. It automatically captures screenshots and voice memos, sorting them into folders for later reference. With OxygenOS 16, users can ask the Gemini assistant to pull context from their Mind Space to provide more personalized and helpful responses. The update also brings OnePlus in line with the current trend of on-device AI tools. AI Writer can transform text into mind maps and tables, generate social media captions from photos, and offers proofreading and summarization features. For photography, AI Portrait Glow aims to brighten faces in low-light conditions, while AI Perfect Shot seems to be OnePlus’s answer to features like Google’s Best Take, combining multiple group photos to ensure everyone has their eyes open. Beyond AI, OxygenOS 16 expands customization options. Users can now personalize their lock screen with various fonts and layouts, including the ability to turn a still image into an animated GIF or use a video as a live wallpaper. The home screen gains new widgets and the ability to scale app icons. Performance is also getting a boost. OnePlus promises smoother animations and faster app loading. A new feature called Parallel Processing 2.0 allows new animations to start before the previous action is fully complete, which is designed to make the entire user interface feel more fluid and responsive. Additional features include an expansion of the tablet multitasking system from the OnePlus Pad and new screen mirroring capabilities that let users project their phone’s display to macOS or Windows computers. OxygenOS 16 will launch alongside the OnePlus 15, which is expected to arrive this fall. The OS update will then roll out to recent OnePlus devices, including the OnePlus 13, OnePlus Pad 3, and OnePlus Open, starting in November 2025. A full list of compatible devices is available on the OnePlus community website.
