New World Aeternum Sets Final Sunset

Amazon’s New World Aeternum MMO Sets Final Shutdown Date Amazon has provided a final update on the fate of its massively multiplayer online game New World Aeternum. The company confirmed the game will be permanently taken offline on January 31, 2027. This follows an announcement last October that Amazon would wind down support for the MMO, naming the ongoing Nighthaven season as its last. Effective immediately, New World Aeternum has been delisted from storefronts and is no longer available for new purchases. However, the game’s servers will remain operational for existing owners until the 2027 shutdown date. Players who have previously purchased the game can continue to download, re-download, and play it until the service ends. The Nighthaven season will also continue to run through to that final date. The shutdown process includes a phased end to monetization. All sales of the in-game currency known as Marks of Fortune will cease on July 20, 2026. Amazon has stated it will not offer refunds for any Marks of Fortune purchased before that sales cutoff. This gives players a final period to spend any remaining currency before the servers close. The decision marks the conclusion of Amazon’s venture into the competitive MMO gaming space. New World launched with significant popularity but will now see a definitive end to its service lifecycle. The extended timeline until 2027 provides the existing player community with over two and a half years to enjoy the game’s final chapter before the servers go dark for good.
