Apple Intelligence Expands with New AI Capabilities Across All Devices

Apple has significantly expanded its Apple Intelligence features across all major device platforms, introducing powerful new capabilities that leverage on-device AI and Private Cloud Compute for enhanced privacy. The updates are available now through iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and visionOS 26.

The headline feature is a groundbreaking Live Translation capability that works seamlessly across the Messages app, FaceTime, and Phone calls. Users can now communicate effortlessly across language barriers, with real-time translation appearing directly in their conversations. The feature supports nine languages at launch: English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese (Brazil), Spanish, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (simplified), with eight more languages coming soon.

“We’ve reimagined what’s possible with personal AI,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering. “Apple Intelligence doesn’t just understand what you’re saying—it understands who you are and what you need, all while keeping your data completely private.”

Workout Buddy represents Apple’s first AI-powered fitness experience, analyzing workout data and fitness history to deliver personalized, spoken motivation throughout exercise sessions. The feature integrates data from heart rate, pace, distance, Activity rings, and personal fitness milestones to provide contextually relevant encouragement.

Apple has also expanded Apple Intelligence into third-party applications, allowing developers to integrate intelligent features that can identify relevant actions in emails, websites, and notes, then automatically categorize them in Reminders. Apple Wallet now identifies and summarizes order tracking details from emails, giving users a complete view of their orders in one place.

The Messages app has received significant upgrades, including intelligent poll creation that detects when a poll might be useful and suggests one automatically. Users can now create personalized backgrounds using Image Playground, with stunning designs that match their conversation themes.

Genmoji creation capabilities have been enhanced, allowing users to create custom emoji that reflect their personality and mood. Image Playground has been expanded with new styles and capabilities that integrate more deeply with the Photos library and camera roll.

Privacy remains central to Apple’s AI approach. All Apple Intelligence features process data either entirely on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, which Apple describes as a breakthrough in privacy-preserving cloud technology. User data is never stored or accessible to Apple servers beyond the immediate processing needed for each request.

The expansion brings Apple Intelligence to Vision Pro for the first time with visionOS 2.4, enabling features like visual intelligence that can identify objects, text, and locations through the device’s cameras. Apple Watch users can now access Siri’s enhanced intelligence features, including more natural voice responses and better contextual awareness.
