Amazon has introduced a new personality style for its Alexa Plus assistant called Sassy, designed specifically for adult users. This mode promises a more unfiltered experience, blending sharp wit, playful sarcasm, and occasional censored profanity. The company emphasizes this is not an adult-oriented AI companion service but rather a more personality-driven conversational tone. To access the Sassy mode, users must pass additional security checks, such as face scans, and cannot have an active Amazon Kids profile on the account. Amazon also presents a warning that the personality may discuss mature subject matter. Details on how the assistant censors strong language remain unclear, whether using bleep sounds or replacement words. Early testing indicates the assistant might use milder expletives like damn or hell but avoids more severe profanity. Amazon has stated clear guardrails for the feature, confirming it will not engage in or generate hate speech, facilitate illegal activities, launch personal attacks, or produce content that could cause harm. The Sassy option joins other existing personality styles for Alexa Plus, including Sweet, Brief, and Chill. Alexa Plus is Amazon’s upgraded conversational AI, focused on more natural and contextual dialogue compared to the original voice assistant. The core functionality for setting alarms, checking weather, and controlling smart home devices remains unchanged.
