Ayaneo Next II Is A Powerhouse Handheld With A Massive 9 Inch OLED Screen Ayaneo may be expanding its budget lineup, but the company is clearly still committed to its high end roots. The handheld maker has just announced the Next II, a new Windows gaming device that appears to be a direct challenger to other large form factor portables like the Legion Go 2. The Next II continues the philosophy of its predecessor by pushing the boundaries of size and performance. Its most prominent feature is a massive 9.06 inch OLED display. The screen boasts a sharp 2400 by 1504 resolution and supports a variable refresh rate that can scale from 60 Hz all the way up to a very smooth 165 Hz, making it ideal for both cinematic games and fast paced competitive titles. Driving all those pixels is an AMD Ryzen AI Max Plus 395 processor. Paired with this powerful chip is a massive 115 Wh battery. Ayaneo has not provided specific battery life estimates, but given the high end components and large, high resolution screen, users should likely expect to be near a power outlet for extended gaming sessions rather than relying on all day battery life. The company has not skimped on the controls either. The Next II is equipped with Hall effect joysticks and triggers. This technology uses magnets instead of physical contact points, which virtually eliminates common controller issues like deadzones and stick drift. Borrowing a feature from its previous premium model, the Ayaneo Kun, the Next II also includes dual smart touchpads. These can be fully customized with gesture controls and key mapping for more complex games. For additional input options, the back of the handheld houses four extra buttons. Users can also configure another four customizable buttons elsewhere on the device, offering a significant amount of control flexibility. No official pricing has been announced for the Ayaneo Next II. However, given its premium specifications and the cost of its predecessor, it is anticipated to carry a price tag that could approach 2000 dollars. The previous flagship model, the Ayaneo Kun, was available in a fully configured version for 1700 dollars, setting a precedent for the company’s high end pricing.
