BMW i3 Sedan Electrifies with 440-Mile Range Future BMW i3: 463 HP and Extreme Range The 440-Mile Electric BMW i3 Arrives 2026 BMW i3 Delivers Power and Epic Range

BMW has fully unveiled its all-new i3 electric vehicle, marking a dramatic departure from the original funky hatchback launched over a decade ago. This reborn i3 is a sporty sedan that aligns with expectations for a 3-series EV, offering significant increases in power, range, and space. The new i3 is built on BMW’s dedicated Neue Klasse platform, drawing inspiration from the Vision Neue Klasse concept. The model shown, the i3 50 xDrive, features motors on both axles and an 800-volt electrical architecture. This setup delivers a combined 463 horsepower and 476 pound-feet of torque, putting its output very close to that of the current gas-powered BMW M3. While BMW has not yet released official acceleration figures, that power promises impressive performance. Perhaps more notable is the estimated range. BMW states the i3 will achieve up to 440 miles on a single charge according to EPA guidelines. Charging is also a focus, with DC fast charging capable of up to 400kW, which BMW says is about 30 percent faster than its previous generation technology. The vehicle’s design is cleaner and more muscular than its predecessor. The front end integrates the grille and headlights into a single unit, with a recessed hood line drawing attention to the BMW badge. Flared fenders, side intakes, and the launch color of Le Catellet Blue metallic contribute to a sporty stance. Optional lighting animations offer different moods. Inside, the cabin is dominated by technology. A 17.9-inch Panoramic Vision display is angled toward the driver, and an optional 3D head-up display is available. The infotainment system includes a self-learning voice assistant with AI and supports extensive customization. BMW employs a hybrid control scheme, retaining physical buttons for functions like the hazard lights while using backlit Shy Tech buttons on the steering wheel that only appear when needed. Interior materials offer several choices, from imitation leather in various colors to an M Design theme with specific textiles, or a BMW Individual option with genuine Merino leather. The i3 also supports BMW’s Digital Key Plus for smartphone access and features bidirectional charging capability, allowing the car to power a home during an outage. Production of the new BMW i3 is scheduled to begin in August 2026, with deliveries starting in the fall of that year. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date. Based on its specifications and positioning, the reborn i3 is expected to command a premium price for its blend of high performance, long range, and advanced technology.
