Bowers & Wilkins Px8 S2: Audiophile Luxury

Bowers and Wilkins Unveils Px8 S2 Wireless Headphones with High-Res Audio Focus Bowers and Wilkins has launched the Px8 S2, the next generation of its premium wireless headphones. This update builds upon the foundation of the well-regarded original Px8 model, incorporating several enhancements recently introduced in the companys Px7 S3 headphones. The core of the upgrade lies in the audio technology. The Px8 S2 features new audio drivers, a built-in digital-to-analog converter or DAC, and an improved digital signal processor. This combination is engineered to deliver a high-resolution audio signal capable of 24-bit and 96 kHz quality. To handle this high-quality audio stream, the headphones utilize Qualcomms aptX Lossless audio codec, making them compatible with high-resolution streaming services such as Tidal and Qobuz. For personalization, a five-band customizable equalizer is accessible through the Bowers and Wilkins companion app. This app also provides controls for other settings and allows users to play audio directly from their preferred streaming platforms. Active noise cancellation has also received an upgrade. The inclusion of more microphones is intended to improve the effectiveness of the ANC and provide a more natural-sounding transparency mode, allowing users to hear their surroundings without removing the headphones. Battery life remains consistent with other models in the lineup, offering up to 30 hours of use. The design of the Px8 S2 has been refined for a slimmer and lighter profile compared to the first-generation model. The company describes it as their most considered and comfortable over-ear headphone design to date. Premium materials include Nappa leather and die-cast aluminum, contributing to a luxury feel. Two new color options are available. A newly designed carry case is included for portability. The Bowers and Wilkins Px8 S2 is priced at 800 dollars, which is a 100 dollar increase over the launch price of the original Px8 in 2023. The company has committed to future software updates for the headphones, with one planned update set to add spatial audio functionality.
