Denon HEOS Challenges Sonos Supremacy

Denon Launches New Home Speaker Trio as a Hi-Fi Alternative to Troubled Sonos If the ongoing issues with the Sonos app have left you frustrated, audio brand Denon is offering a fresh alternative with three new multi-room speakers. The Denon Home 200, Home 400, and Home 600 are designed to blend into home decor with stone and charcoal color options while offering flexible audio setups with other products that use Denon’s HEOS technology. The new lineup scales up in both size and sound output. The compact Denon Home 200 is the entry point, featuring three drivers and three amplifiers, including two tweeters and a single woofer, for what Denon calls natural, room-filling sound. While it is not portable, a pair can be used for stereo sound or combined with Denon’s Home Sound Bar 550 and a subwoofer to create a 5.1 home theater system. Stepping up, the Denon Home 400 is equipped with two tweeters, two woofers, and six amplifiers. A key feature is its two up-firing drivers, which project sound upward to create a wider, more immersive soundstage with a greater sense of dimensionality in the audio. The flagship of the trio is the Denon Home 600. It is the largest model and packs the most powerful audio hardware, including dual 6.5-inch woofers, two tweeters, two midrange drivers, and two up-firing drivers. Denon states this configuration delivers deep, authoritative bass and more depth than the smaller models. All three speakers share a core set of features centered on Denon’s HEOS multi-room ecosystem. They connect via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and include USB-C and auxiliary inputs. Through the HEOS app, users can stream music from services like Tidal, Amazon Music HD, and Qobuz. The system allows for grouping up to 64 different HEOS-enabled devices, including AV receivers and Denon’s new DP-500BT turntable, across 32 separate audio zones in a home. All three new Home speakers also support the spatial audio format Dolby Atmos Music where available. The Denon Home 200, Home 400, and Home 600 are available now. Pricing starts at 399 dollars for the Home 200, 599 dollars for the Home 400, and 799 dollars for the top-tier Home 600. They are sold directly through Denon and its authorized retailers.
