Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 Delayed to 2026 Fans hoping to experience the Lands Between on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 will have to wait longer than anticipated. FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have officially delayed Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, the port of the massively successful action RPG, pushing its release from this year to 2026. The developers announced the delay through the official Elden Ring social media account. The statement explained that while development on the Tarnished Edition continues wholeheartedly, the launch is being moved to allow more time for performance adjustments. The post included an apology to players who were looking forward to the game and thanked them for their patience and support. This delay follows public demos of the port that were available at Gamescom in August, where performance issues were readily apparent. At the time, several gaming outlets reported significant problems. One major publication described the game as a disaster in the Switch 2s handheld mode, citing significant frame rate drops and a confusing button layout. Another outlet noted multiple instances of frame drops and stuttering while players were exploring the open world. Given these public showings, the decision to take extra time to polish the games performance on the new hardware seems like a prudent move. The Tarnished Edition is set to be a comprehensive package. It will include the massive Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, which is known for its challenging content. The edition will also feature new classes, weapons, armor sets, and new customization options for the players spectral steed, Torrent. These new items and classes are also expected to be made available for other existing versions of Elden Ring. This is not the only project FromSoftware has in the works for the Nintendo Switch 2. The developer is also working on a new exclusive title for the console called The Duskbloods, which is currently slated for a 2026 release as well. The delay of Elden Ring Tarnished Edition now places both of these major FromSoftware releases on a similar timeline for the new Nintendo platform.
