It feels like Summer Game Fest just ended, but the next major gaming event is already on the horizon. Gamescom, the world’s largest gaming event, is set to take place from August 20 to 24 this year. The festivities kick off a day early with Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live showcase, promising a packed schedule of reveals and updates.
The event will be headlined by Opening Night Live on August 19th, starting with a pre-show at 1:30 PM ET followed by the main event at 2 PM ET. Other key events include the Future Games Show on August 20th at 2 PM ET, the Awesome Indies showcase on August 21st at 12 PM ET, and a series of Bethesda streams running from August 22nd through the 25th.
Ubisoft has also confirmed it will host two panels focused on The Division franchise, including news on the delayed mobile game The Division Resurgence and details on a big new project for The Division 2.
Opening Night Live is set to be a major event, featuring the worldwide reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. There is also significant hope that the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong will finally get a release date, especially since it will be playable on the show floor. Other confirmed appearances include new looks at Ghost of Yotei, The Outer Worlds 2, Resident Evil Requiem, and the opening cinematic for World of Warcraft: Midnight. The show will also feature a musical performance and a first peek at season two of the Fallout TV series.
Xbox’s two-day broadcast is highly anticipated, with expectations centered on the official release date and pricing for the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X handheld devices. Leaks suggest an October 16th release in Europe. The streams will feature a deep dive into games like Grounded 2, Keeper, and the new Indiana Jones expansion, The Order of Giants. The broadcasts will be available in multiple languages on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, and Facebook.
The Future Games Show, hosted by voice actors David Hayter and Maggie Robertson, promises over 50 games with world premieres and new trailers. Confirmed titles include the new Skate, Resident Evil Requiem, and Cronos: The New Dawn, followed by a 40-minute post-show.
The Awesome Indies showcase will highlight over 200 games from the Indie Arena Booth, offering exclusive trailers and first peeks at gameplay for titles like Cairn and Ball x Pit.
Finally, Bethesda will host three days of streams from the Xbox booth, featuring developer interviews, game showcases, and live tours of the show floor. With so much scheduled, Gamescom 2025 is shaping up to be an essential event for gaming news.
