Google Search Upgrades AI with Gemini 3 and Seamless Chat Google has initiated a significant upgrade to its Search platform, making its most advanced AI model, Gemini 3, the new global standard for generating AI Overviews. This move follows an initial deployment phase where the model was reserved for handling the most complex queries. Now, all users will benefit from Gemini 3’s enhanced capabilities, which are expected to produce more credible and relevant summaries directly in search results. The second major enhancement introduces a more fluid conversational experience. Users can now transition directly from an AI Overview into a full AI Mode chat. This feature, first previewed late last year, allows for follow-up questions while maintaining the context from the initial overview, creating a seamless dialogue for deeper exploration. According to Robby Stein, Vice President of Product for Google Search, internal testing indicated a user preference for this natural conversational flow. The integration is designed to offer a quick informational snapshot when needed and the option for a deeper, contextual conversation when desired, all while providing prominent links for further research. Starting immediately, users accessing Google Search on mobile devices can begin an AI Mode conversation directly from any AI Overview. This rollout represents Google’s continued effort to blend traditional search with interactive AI assistance, aiming to make information discovery more intuitive and comprehensive. The upgrades underscore the company’s focus on advancing its AI infrastructure to improve core search experiences for users worldwide.
