HP Unveils Omen Max 45L Gaming Desktop and New HyperX Peripherals Ahead of IFA
HP is making waves in the gaming world with a major update to its PC gaming lineup, led by the new Omen Max 45L desktop and a suite of refreshed HyperX peripherals. The announcement comes just before IFA in early September, positioning HP ahead of competitors in the gaming hardware space.
The Omen Max 45L is the standout in this refresh, promising high-end performance without compromising on cooling or noise levels. While pricing remains unannounced, the desktop builds on the design of the existing Omen 35L but introduces a key innovation: the Cryo Chamber. This patented cooling solution places the liquid-cooled radiator in a separate compartment to prevent hot air from affecting the rest of the system. HP claims this reduces temperatures by up to 7.5 degrees Celsius under full load. Additional design tweaks, such as raised feet and vented PCI slots, further improve GPU temperatures by two degrees.
Unlike some pre-built systems from major brands, the Omen Max 45L uses industry-standard components, making future upgrades easier. The desktop also includes a CPU cooler with a built-in display for custom images or short video clips. Another first for the Omen line is the fully modular power supply, offering up to 1,200 watts. The PSU features customizable fan curves and a cleaning mode that reverses fan spin to reduce dust buildup. Unfortunately, HP has no plans to sell the case separately.
The Omen Max 45L can be configured with top-tier hardware, including an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor, NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU, 128GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB of PCIe Gen5 storage.
Alongside the desktop, HP is rolling out new HyperX peripherals. The HyperX Cloud Alpha 2 wireless headset stands out with a 250-hour battery life in 2.4GHz mode, 53mm drivers, and dual audio input via Bluetooth. Priced at $300, it also includes an RGB base station with a physical volume dial and customizable buttons. The headset switches to microfiber earpads for improved comfort.
For budget-conscious gamers, the HyperX Cloud Flight 2 wireless headset comes in two versions: $130 for PC/PlayStation and $140 for Xbox. Both feature RGB lighting and removable side panels for personalization.
HP also introduced two new microphones. The $230 HyperX FlipCast 2 supports USB and XLR connections, includes an onboard display for audio monitoring, and has a touch-based mute button. The more affordable $60 SoloCast 2 offers a built-in shock mount and pop filter in a compact design.
The Omen Max 45L and HyperX CloudX Flight 2 headset won’t arrive until December. However, the HyperX Cloud Alpha 2, FlipCast 2, and SoloCast 2 mics launch this month, followed by the PC/PlayStation version of the Cloud Flight 2 in October.
HP’s latest gaming lineup delivers powerful performance and customization options, catering to both high-end enthusiasts and budget gamers.
