Indie Game Roundup: Hitman on iOS, Karate Survival, and AI Search Woes
Welcome to a recap of the latest in the indie gaming world. This week, a major indie title made its way to mobile, but that is just one highlight among many new releases and exciting upcoming games.
A recent report from Game File highlighted a growing problem for game developers: Google’s AI Overviews feature is generating and spreading false video game tips. The developers of the cozy shopkeeping game Trash Goblin have been dealing with this firsthand. The AI feature has offered players incorrect information, such as falsely claiming a player can damage a trinket while cleaning it. It has also cited wrong sources and even provided information about entirely different games.
This issue stems from how large language models work. They are designed to predict the next word in a sequence, not to deliver verified facts, which often leads to them making things up. For reliable game help, players are better off seeking out dedicated gaming communities, professional written guides, or simply turning off the AI Overviews feature in their Google search settings.
