John Wick Returns With Gun-Fu Fury

A new AAA video game based on the John Wick franchise is officially in development. The project is a collaboration between film studio Lionsgate and game developer Saber Interactive, and it will feature Keanu Reeves fully reprising his iconic role, providing both his voice and likeness for the character. The game is currently untitled and is being developed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC. It is described as a single-player, third-person action experience designed for mature audiences. No specific release date has been announced. According to the official announcement, the game aims to translate the signature gun-fu combat style from the films into a thrilling interactive experience. The development team emphasized that both franchise director Chad Stahelski and star Keanu Reeves are actively involved in the game’s production to ensure authenticity. The game’s director, Jesus Iglesias, revealed that the story will be an original narrative exploring a significant, yet unspecified, period in John Wick’s life. It will feature a mix of familiar faces from the film series alongside new characters created specifically for the game. From a gameplay perspective, the developers promise a hard-hitting combat system that captures the fluid, adrenaline-fueled action of the movies. The experience will also include dynamic camerawork, intense driving sequences, cinematic storytelling, and a variety of immersive environments. Saber Interactive, the studio behind the recent Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, is also working on other notable titles like Jurassic Park: Survival and John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando. This new project marks the first major John Wick game since John Wick Hex, a strategy title released in 2019 that was recently delisted from digital storefronts.
