Microsoft Gaming Copilot AI Assistant Expands to PC and Mobile Microsoft is officially launching its Gaming Copilot AI assistant for Windows PCs and the Xbox mobile app. The tool, which the company had been testing with Xbox Insiders on PC, is now receiving a broader rollout. The assistant will be available to players aged 18 and older directly within the PC Game Bar. The version for the Xbox mobile app on both Android and iOS is scheduled to roll out this October, following a beta test that occurred earlier this year. Microsoft has stated that its Gaming Copilot will be available globally, with the exception of mainland China. The function of the AI is reminiscent of classic video game helplines. A chat box appears as an overlay on the screen, allowing players to ask questions or get tips about the game they are currently playing. According to Microsoft, the Copilot knows what game you are playing and understands your Xbox activity, as it utilizes in-game screenshots for context. It can also answer questions about an Xbox account and offer personalized recommendations on games or other content to purchase. A key feature of the official release is the addition of voice chat, enabling players to simply ask questions out loud. On PC, a Push to Talk hotkey can be set to activate the bot conveniently. The mobile app includes a microphone button for the same purpose. The PC version also features a widget that can be placed anywhere on the screen, which is designed to be useful for longer, more involved conversations with the AI. Microsoft emphasizes that this is still a developing product and is actively encouraging user feedback to help continue shaping Gaming Copilot to better meet player needs and preferences. The company has been testing the system on Windows-based handheld consoles and recently announced its own Xbox Ally handheld gaming devices, which are set to become available on October 16. It is highly likely that the Gaming Copilot software will receive an official rollout for these new handheld consoles sometime after their launch.
