Nintendo Revives Forgotten Mario Game

Nintendo Surprise Drops Japan Only Mario Game on Virtual Console Nintendo has unexpectedly released a previously Japan exclusive SNES game onto the Virtual Console service. The game is called Mario and Wario and it features a rather unusual plot. The story begins with Wario dropping a bucket onto Marios head. The player must then guide the bucket headed Mario through one hundred levels filled with point and click puzzles set within a sidescrolling world. The original game was controlled with a mouse and this new Virtual Console version maintains that control scheme. For Nintendo Switch owners using a USB mouse is the way to play. However owners of the newer Switch 2 console have a more integrated option. They can use the consoles unique Joy Con controllers which can be flipped over and used like a mouse. This control method was previously seen in other titles like the game Drag x Drive and a minigame within the Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour software. Mario and Wario now serves as another showcase for this distinctive feature. The game is available immediately for subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online service. This surprise release was not the only addition to the Virtual Console. Nintendo also added the SNES platformer Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind. Additionally the SNES fighting game Fatal Fury Special is now available. This particular fighting game includes the roster from the original Fatal Fury as well as characters from Fatal Fury 2.
