Oppo Find X9 Pro Hands On Detachable Telephoto Lens And Massive Battery Oppo’s latest flagship phone, the Find X9 Pro, is packed with impressive technology. It boasts a huge 7,500mAh battery, a powerful 200-megapixel telephoto camera, and a bright 6.78-inch screen with extremely slim bezels, all while maintaining a slim 8.25mm profile. An optional telephoto lens add-on can boost the camera zoom to an incredible 10x. Priced at £1,099, the biggest drawback for many is that the Find X9 series will not be available in the US. Despite this, the sheer amount of technology crammed into this device makes it a compelling option for those in regions where it is sold. Display and Design The Find X9 Pro features a 6.78-inch display with a peak outdoor brightness of 3,600 nits, making it exceptionally easy to view in direct sunlight. It also includes a 1-nit minimal brightness setting to reduce eye strain in dark environments. For further comfort, the phone uses high-frequency pixel dimming to lessen screen harshness. Oppo has added a new customizable Snap key on the left edge of the phone, which can be set to launch apps like a voice recorder or flashlight. On the right side, a Quick Button serves as a dedicated camera shutter button; a double-tap launches the camera, and swiping on it controls zoom. Powering the device is a Mediatek Dimensity 9500 chip, paired with a large 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. This battery technology offers a higher energy density, enabling longer battery life without increasing the phone’s size. In practical use, the phone consistently lasted two days on a single charge, even with heavy use involving camera operation, navigation, and video streaming. It supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging for quick top-ups. Cameras The camera system is a highlight. It consists of a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a standout 200MP periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilization. This telephoto lens offers a 3x optical zoom, which can be cropped to a 6x zoom while retaining 50MP quality. A new Hi-Res mode allows for full-resolution 200MP shots in good light. However, the most intriguing feature is the optional Hasselblad Teleconverter lens. This metal accessory attaches to the phone via a specific case and mounting plate, extending the optical zoom to 10x. With the high-resolution sensor, you can push to a 200x digital zoom for photos. The add-on feels solid and secure, though it gives the phone a distinctive, almost spy-like appearance. Using the teleconverter is fun, providing clear, detailed shots from a great distance, making it ideal for concerts or capturing candid moments. The combination of high detail and a natural bokeh effect is particularly attractive. The main challenge is camera shake at extreme zoom levels; Oppo offers a tripod mount for stability, but it adds to the bulk. A minor inconvenience is that the mounting plate blocks the other camera sensors, so you must remove it to use the main or ultrawide cameras. While the telephoto camera steals the show, the main 50MP sensor, co-developed with Sony, is also impressive. It captures triple exposures per frame for a claimed 17 stops of dynamic range, and a dedicated True Color camera helps ensure accurate color temperatures across all sensors. At its UK price, the Find X9 Pro is positioned directly against the iPhone 17 Pro. The final cost of the teleconverter kit is still unknown. If Oppo can refine this unique camera experience and potentially maintain compatibility with future models, it has a strong chance of winning over photography enthusiasts looking for an alternative to mainstream flagships.
