Pebble Creator Unveils Final Design for Pebble Time 2 Smartwatch
Eric Migicovsky, the creator of the original Pebble smartwatch, has revealed the final design of the Pebble Time 2 through his company, Core Designs. The new e-paper smartwatch features a 1.5-inch display with 64 colors, a touchscreen, a metal frame, and a built-in heart-rate monitor. One of its standout claims is an impressive battery life of up to 30 days.
The design has undergone refinements since earlier prototypes. The frame now has a more curved profile, and the buttons on the right side have been adjusted—the top and bottom buttons are now angled rather than aligned straight with the center button. The watch weighs approximately 48 grams with the strap attached, while the body alone comes in at around 32.5 grams.
Core Designs has also enhanced the Pebble Time 2 with additional features. The watch will use 316 stainless steel for its front, rear, and buttons, ensuring durability. It includes a multicolor RGB LED backlight, a compass sensor, and a screw-mounted back cover. A second microphone has been added, which could enable environmental noise cancellation in future updates.
Previously confirmed features include a quick-release 22mm strap, flat hardened glass lens, step and sleep tracking, and a built-in speaker. The watch also supports vibration alerts and is water-resistant.
The Pebble Time 2 will be available in four color options, though Core Designs has yet to finalize the exact choices. Once decided, pre-order customers will receive an email to select their preferred color.
Scheduled to begin shipping in December, the Pebble Time 2 is priced at $225. Meanwhile, the more affordable Pebble Duo 2, priced at $149, became available last month.
Migicovsky and his team recently regained the Pebble trademark, allowing them to reintroduce the Pebble branding. As a result, the previously named Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 have been rebranded to reflect the original Pebble legacy.
With its long battery life, durable build, and classic Pebble design, the Pebble Time 2 aims to bring back the simplicity and functionality that made the original smartwatch a fan favorite.
