Solos Partners with Envision to Bring AI-Powered Smart Glasses for the Visually Impaired
Solos has teamed up with Envision, a company specializing in assistive technology for the blind and low-vision community, to integrate an AI assistant called Ally into its AirGo smart glasses. This collaboration aims to create a hands-free, voice-activated wearable designed to assist users with vision impairments.
The smart glasses offer a range of features to enhance accessibility, including real-time text recognition and reading, scene descriptions, and facial recognition. Users can interact with Ally simply by speaking, allowing them to scan documents, ask questions, check schedules, or engage in natural conversations. The AI is designed to retain context across interactions, making it more intuitive over time.
Beyond serving the visually impaired, Solos highlights that the glasses could benefit the elderly, individuals with cognitive disabilities, and anyone intrigued by AI but overwhelmed by traditional devices. The AirGo glasses support prescription lenses and feature a directional speaker system for clear audio. Additionally, the frames are modular, letting users swap out different styles for customization.
Preorders are currently open, with shipping set to begin in October. The base model starts at $399 and includes a free trial of Ally Pro, which unlocks additional AI customization and features. This partnership marks a significant step in making AI-driven wearable technology more accessible to those who need it most.
