Thief Returns as a VR Exclusive This December The long dormant Thief franchise is finally making a comeback, and much like the return of Half-Life with Alyx, its revival is happening exclusively in virtual reality. After its initial announcement in June, we now have a release date. The new chapter, titled Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow, is scheduled to arrive on December 4th. This new installment is set in the timeline of the classic series, taking place roughly halfway between the events of the original trilogy and the 2014 Thief reboot. Players will step into the shoes of a cunning thief named Magpie, who uncovers a legendary eye artifact with a mysterious link to the past. The game is set in a city under the oppressive control of a tyrant named Baron Ulysses Northcrest, a ruler known for crushing any hint of rebellion. This environment of power and control sets the stage for the classic Thief gameplay of stealth, infiltration, and theft. Publisher Vertigo Games has released a glimpse of the gameplay captured on a Meta Quest headset. Thief VR will not be limited to one platform; it will also be available on PS VR and SteamVR upon its December 4th launch. The game carries a list price of thirty dollars on stores like Steam and Meta. For those eager to secure their copy early, a pre-order option is available for twenty-seven dollars. Pricing and pre-order information for the version on the PlayStation Store are not yet available. The return of Thief in VR aims to immerse players directly into the shadowy corridors and rich, atmospheric world the series is known for, offering a new perspective on stealth gameplay.
