Ursula K. Le Guin’s Blog Is Coming to Life as a Podcast For devoted fans of the legendary author Ursula K. Le Guin, a new project is set to deliver her unique voice in a fresh format. Her personal blog, which she began writing at age 81 and maintained until 2017, is being adapted into a podcast series titled In Your Spare Time. The blog was previously curated into a book collection, but the podcast promises a more complete experience. It will feature every entry she posted, including full essays, poems, and, as announced, even the posts that were primarily pictures of her cat. The first episode is scheduled for release on April 8 and will be available on major platforms including Apple Podcasts and Spotify. The official Instagram account for Le Guin’s estate shared details about the project. They expressed a long-held desire to create an audio version encompassing all blog content. The series will run for over two years, with new episodes released every Wednesday. Each installment will be read by a different guest, who will also share personal reflections. These may include their connection to Le Guin and her body of work, thoughts on the specific topic of the blog post, or other related musings. The premiere episode, featuring post zero titled A Note at the Beginning, will be read by author David Mitchell. A trailer for the podcast is currently available to preview. This initiative offers a new way to engage with the late author’s insightful and often witty observations on life, literature, and the world, preserving her literary legacy for both existing admirers and new audiences.
