WhatsApp Enhances Group Calling Features for Better Workplace Collaboration
WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is stepping up its game for professional and group communication with new updates to its calling features. The latest rollout includes the ability to schedule group calls in advance, along with additional tools that bring it closer to platforms like Zoom and Google Meet.
One of the standout additions is the option to schedule calls. Users can now set up future calls by navigating to the Calls tab, tapping the + button, and selecting Schedule call. This feature also allows them to invite participants, making it easier to coordinate meetings with colleagues or friends.
Upcoming scheduled calls will be visible in the Calls tab, where users can check details such as the attendee list and call links. Creators of these links will receive notifications when someone joins the call. Additionally, the call links can be used to add the meeting to calendar apps, ensuring everyone stays on track. Participants will also receive reminders when the call is about to start.
Beyond scheduling, WhatsApp is introducing features commonly found in dedicated video conferencing tools. A new raise your hand option lets participants signal when they want to speak, improving group call etiquette. Emoji reactions are also now supported, allowing users to express themselves without interrupting the conversation.
These updates mark a shift for WhatsApp, which began as a simple messaging app in 2009. By integrating more workplace-friendly tools, the platform is positioning itself as a stronger competitor in the professional communication space. While it may not replace enterprise-grade solutions just yet, these enhancements make it a more versatile option for teams and groups.
WhatsApp continues to evolve, blending its core messaging strengths with features that cater to both casual and professional users. The new calling upgrades are now available, offering a more structured way to connect with groups.
