Amazon Luna Scales Back, Ends Third-Party Store Integrations Amazon is making significant changes to its Luna cloud gaming service by ending support for third-party storefront and subscription integrations. This move simplifies the platform but removes popular ways users accessed games. The most immediate effect is that users can no longer purchase Ubisoft Plus or Jackbox Games subscriptions directly through Luna. Amazon will automatically cancel any active subscriptions bought through its service at the end of the next billing cycle. For users with a Ubisoft Plus subscription bought directly from Ubisoft, access to those games on Luna will continue until June 10. Another major feature being removed is the Bring Your Own Library option. This allowed players to stream games they already owned on platforms like the EA App, GOG Galaxy, and Ubisoft Connect through Luna. Access to games from these linked libraries will end after June 3. For customers who purchased standalone games outright on the Luna platform, they will retain access to play them on Luna until June 10. Unlike Google’s approach when shutting down Stadia, Amazon is not offering refunds for these purchases. However, the company notes that users will still own and can play these games through the connected third-party platform account, such as EA App, GOG Galaxy, or Ubisoft Connect. This shift presents a challenge for users who relied on Luna’s streaming power to play demanding games on less powerful hardware. To continue streaming those purchased titles, they may need to turn to other cloud services like Nvidia GeForce Now, assuming those specific games are supported there. This streamlining follows a broader reshaping of Luna over recent months. Last October, Amazon revamped the service with a greater focus on its GameNight collection of party games playable via smartphone. The core offerings for Amazon Prime members remain unchanged. Prime subscribers can still claim monthly PC games and stream a rotating selection on the Luna Standard tier at no extra cost. The paid Luna Premium subscription, which offers a broader catalog of third-party games, also continues. In a communication to users, Amazon stated it is doubling down on a broad range of gaming experiences, including strong third-party titles, and unique offerings like GameNight. The company also said it will offer some affected users a free Luna Premium subscription.
