Apple Music Beta Skips Liquid Glass

Apple Music 5.0 Beta Arrives for Android Without Liquid Glass Redesign

Apple has rolled out the beta version of Apple Music 5.0 for Android, but unlike its iOS counterpart, it does not include the Liquid Glass visual overhaul. Liquid Glass is Apple’s new design language, and its absence on Android raises questions about whether the platform will ever receive the same aesthetic updates. However, the Android version does borrow some elements from iOS 26, including redesigned pill-shaped buttons for play, shuffle, and repeat functions, replacing the older rectangular buttons with rounded corners.

One of the new features in the Android beta is the ability to pin music to the top of the Library. Users can pin artists, albums, playlists, or individual songs for quick access, with the option to automatically download pinned content to their device. Pinned items will sync with the iOS version of Apple Music, and users can remove them by long-pressing in the Library.

The update also introduces lyrics translation and pronunciation guides, a feature powered by Apple Intelligence on iOS. On Android, this functionality is likely supported by Google’s AI instead. Additionally, users can now view their monthly and yearly replay statistics directly within the app.

Notably missing from the Android beta is AutoMix, a major addition in iOS 26 that enhances crossfade with DJ-style transitions. AutoMix blends tracks by adjusting tempos and adding subtle drum or bass loops for smoother playback. There is no confirmation yet on whether this feature will make its way to Android.

While the Android version may not match iOS in design, the latest beta brings useful improvements, making Apple Music more functional for Android users. The full release is expected to roll out soon, potentially with additional refinements.
